You are quite right in drawing attention to the unresolved question of a pneumoconiosis compensation scheme. However, it would appear that Hong Kong have taken on board our earlier
comments on the subject and are actively pursuing the intro- duction of such a scheme.
る。 You will wish to see the attached extract of Social Services Branch Quarterly Progress Report for the period 1 August to 31 October 1979 which refers to the measures currently under
consideration. Although the programme may have slipped a little, (we should see the Report for the final quarter soon), this shows that new legislation is certainly in the pipeline. I shall keep you fully up-to-date with any progress that is made.
