POSITION OF HONG KONG GOVERNMENT ON SAFETY

The Hong Kong Government will naturally wish to be satisfied that the highest safety standards are applied. Safety is one of the important aspects which is being examined under the feasibility study.

2. UK GOVERNMENT PERMISSION FOR UK INDUSTRY TO SUPPLY POWER

STATION

I do not in principle see any reason to suppose that permission

would not be granted, but this would need to be considered when

an application was received in the light of all the circumstances

at that time.

3.

NON-PROLIFERATION CONDITIONS

This would be a matter for discussion with the Government of the

People's Republic of China.

4.

INVOLVEMENT OF NUCLEAR POWER COMPANY (NPC)

The Nuclear Power Company has provided technical advice to the UKAEA in relation to the feasibility study. It is too early to speculate about any further involvement in the project of NPC or any other British company.
