HONG KONG: CROWN LEASES IN THE LEASED TERRITORIES

Thank you for your letter of 23rd July. I confirm I agree your enclosures.

The only useful comment I can really add is to draw your attention to the

latter part of paragraph 3 of the note I sent you on 22nd August 1978.

It

would be quite feasible to combine a lease for a fixed term with a periodic

tenancy, namely say for 16 years certain from June 1980 to June 1996 and

thereafter from year to year until determined (say by either party) by six months notice this would be determinable, by notice, in June 1997 at the earliest or at the end of any subsequent year.
