Most British companies who wish to develop trade with China are well aware of the advantages of Hong Kong, either as a base for their own office or representative, or as a place to find an agent to represent them. I think that more are becoming aware also of the advantages of teaming up with a Hong Kong partner to exploit the oportunities for collaborative manufacture in China. I hope that both British and Hong Kong companies will be alive to the opportunities for mutually profitable co-operation in this new growth area; and would suggest that the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce can play a valuable part in encouraging a flow of information in both directions which will help to put firms in Britain and in Hong Kong in touch with each other.
