H.E.'s Private Secretary ang this morning with
the following:
Monday 3 November
23
۱۵
H.E. would prefer to see Sir Edward Youde and Dick Clift before his meeting with Lord Carrington.
Tuesday 4 November
H.E. does not think he will have time to see Lord Nelson and Mr. Sharp on afternoon of 4 November. He suggests fitting them in on Thursday 6th (a.m.). He is still considering ECGD and DOI meetings. The P.S. thinks that it might be possible to fit it all in on the Thursday morning. **
Wednesday 5 November
No more appointments please.
Thursday 6 November
As mentioned above Lord Nelson, Mr. Sharp, etc.
Friday 7 November
10 a.m.
H.E. would like to leave for Glasgow at about
Monday 10 November
Lunch with academics and tea with AOs at Oxford. This is fine with H.E. and he has no strong feelings about who is invited to the lunch.
Tuesday 11 November
12.45
Adam Butler 10.00 a.m. fine. Sir James Crane, 11.00 a.m. fine. Does distance between meetings pose any problem?
(Mr. Ford says it does not).
**
Mr. Ford wonders if a late morning appointment (say 12.00) may be best for Lord Nelson as GEC Offices are in W.1. area.
The line from Hong Kong was poor, so I hope I am right in assuming that the Private Secretary will be in touch again about the ECGD and DOI meetings. I tried to telephone this information over to you this morning but your line was busy.
