CALL ON MR BLAKER BY THE GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG 11 JANUARY 1980

-

I submit a set of briefs covering the points which Sir Murray

has asked to discuss.

He will,

2. As you know, the call which the Governor was to have had on the

Secretary of State on 10 January has now been cancelled.

however, be seeing the PUS and Chief Clerk on that day.

3.

Outside the Office the Governor's main calls will be on the CGS

and the Secretary of State for Defence (covering in the brief on

the Hong Kong garrison). He is also having lunch with the Secretary

of State for Trade who is visiting Hong Kong from 26 to 30 January.

4. In addition, the Governor is seeing Sir Paul Bryan (Anglo-

Hong Kong Parliamentary Group) and Sir Anthony Royle. The latter

is involved in the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee in

which there have been some moves to discuss Hong Kong. Sir Anthony

is trying to stop this, realising that it would be an unhelpful

move.
