IRAN (SANCTIONS) AND THE DEPENDENT TERRITORIES

Mr Jamieson (MVD) (213 - 4216) told me today that he is awaiting instructions about the issue of a telegram to visa-issuing posts, and cannot say yet when it will go out. He has promised to let us see the draft to OAG's in dependent territories. I read out to him the information in paragraph 3 of Mr Bridgwood's minute of 23 April for which he was grateful.

Mr Jamieson asked if HK&GD would give thought

as to how we could "direct" OAG's not to issue visas to Iranians when the Constitution in each dependency is different. He wondered whether a blanket statement on the lines of....
