PROTECTION OF TRADING INTERESTS ACT 1980

Please refer to my letter of 13 May to Diane Morton in DOT about the extension to dependent territories of the Protection of Trading Interests Act, 1980

I now attach a copy of Miss Morton's reply without enclosures - from which you will see that all dependent territories will shortly be receiving a circular savingram from Hong Kong and General Depart- ment giving details of the Act, the House of Lord's Notes in the various clauses and press notices etc, and asking whether DT's wish to have the Act extended to them.

As it is no longer necessary to think in terms of extending the Shipping Contracts and Commercial Documents Act, 1964 to Bermuda, please look out for the circular savingram. Any request for extension will be handled by Hong Kong and General Department.
