REVISION OF COLONIAL REGULATIONS

1. Thank you for your helpful minute of 20 October.

2.

I have looked at Mr Russell's schedule: a quick glance tells me that the Regulations which he indicates could be transferred to DSP (e.g. Chapter V, Office of the Governor; Chapter VII, Estimates and Correspondence) already feature there in the main, either in DSP Vol.8 or in the volume dealing with correspondence. The other subjects, e.g. uniforms, salutes, etc., are all covered in some detail in the specific instructions given to Governors on appointment.

3. I agree that it would not be practicable to undertake, a com- plete revision, or even necessarily desirable at this stage; but it would be better to write to Mr Russell as the proposer and then to prepare a brief summarising the outcome in time for the OAG conference in January. Would you be kind enough to do this?
