2. I confirm that, although the present level of £1000 is un- realistic, there are some senior posts for which we wish to retuin responsibility. Instead of specifying a salary level we propose to amend Colonial Regulation 19 so that we can list for each territory the senior posts or grades which require the Secretary of State's prior approval under the provisions of this Colonial Regulation. For hontserrat we have in mind the following posts:
All Permanent Secretaries
Financial Secretary
Director of Audit (Section 42(1) of your Ord 17 of
Commissioner of Police
Attorney-General

3. Please let me know if you agree or whether there are any additions to this list at Head of Department level which should be added, so that we can in due course send you a formal despatch.

1.
You should by now have received a despatch from the▾ Lecretary of Stato dated 12 september 1978 listing the posts for which his approval is required under the provision of Ck 19 for appointments and promotions.
2. In compiling this despatch note was taken of your
J
Tel No 728 of 11 September 196 suggesting that among other things the post of i puty Commandant of rolice should be excluded from the list. However, after 1 September 1979 when this post will no longer be a pritish appointment we consider that the post of Deputy Commandant of folice (Police hobile Unit) should, as an Anglo/French appointment, be referred. I should be grateful if you would acknowledge your agreement to this.
