The Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service has now begun work. Terms of Reference (t.o.r.) were issued with Civil Service Branch Circular No. 3/79 dated 20th January 1979. The Commission has requested me to inform the Service of the present position and to invite representations to be sent to the Commission.

The Commission has decided that during the first

phase of its work, it should concentrate on :

reviewing the key principles and

practices governing structure and salary

advising on procedures for reviews

of individual grades

advising on consultative procedures

Within about six months, the Commission expects to have formulated advice on the kev issues to be considered during the first phase.
