FINANCE COMMITTEE AGENDA ITEM

PAY INCREASES FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE

Members are invited to approve

(a) with effect from 1st April 1979

(b)

(i) for the Master Pay Scale, a tapered increase ranging from 9.09% at the bottom to 6.93% at the top; and related increases for the MOD 1 Pay Scale, Disciplined (Rank and File) Pay Scale, Apprentice Pay Scales and personal scales and

pay rates;

(ii)

(iii)

for the Directorate Pay Scale

an increase ranging from 6.88% at the bottom to 6.03% at the top;

similar adjustments to scales that are normally increased in line with increases in Civil Service pay (including deficiency subvented organisations and such public officers as Director of Audit, Chairman of the Public Service

Commission and Commissioner I.C.A.C.), together with supplementary provision of up to $115 million, as required, under various Annually Recurrent Other Charges subheads; and

the proposal that supplementary provision should be made available on application to discretionary grant organisations in accordance with the criteria outlined in paragraph 22.
