MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

CIVIL SERVICE PAY INCREASE 1979

In accordance with the approved policy and practice, it is proposed to invite Finance Committee to consider a pay increase for the Civil Service with effect from 1st April 1979 ranging from 10.61% for the lowest paid (apprentices) to 6,03% for the highest paid officers. This represents an overall increase in expenditure on Civil Service salaries of approximately 8%. A copy of an agenda item which will be considered by Finance Committee on the 18th July is annexed.

Members are asked to endorse these proposals.

(The Secretary for the Civil Service (Mr Selwyn ALLEYNE) and the Deputy Secretary for the Civil Service (3) (Mr N.W.H. MACLEOD) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
