gathering herein Sri Lanka as Asian Delegates deepen our underütmding of Mia's Struggle for Full Humanity from the perspective of Christianity, we are surprised to know that on January 8th, 76 Representativos from the Tamati Typhoon Sholter have bom arrested while they were on their way to petition yon for proper rosettlement of the hundreds of families living there,
Though the roal offense of those people is not fully know to usŋ we have a strong conviétion that it is ma's basic human right tobimye deomt shelter. When the people feel that the other existing channels cannot commmioate their grieviances to the authorities concerned such a peaceful petition organised by the boat people to the authority is also their basio civil right that should be respectod in my democratic society, We firmly believe that this basic right of staging peaceful actions should not be obstructed by the authority. It is only through gomine respect of the common people that the government can come to a genuine dialogue with the people and to understand their real needs. Only through this canfu further unnecessary conflicts be avoided,
In the past few years hundreds of groups of people had organised petitions to the government and their rights were respooted, but why is there now sudden and abrupt action of mane arrest which domies the poopls their basic civil rights? This abrupt notion has given a very bad iuage or the Hong Kong government to us in Asi so
