Dear Goronwy,
I have hada cable from Hong Kong stating that another child has been drowned in the typhoon shelter where the boatmen take refuge.
This seems to me to be another
reason why action should be taken to re- house these people. The telegram states that when social workers in Kowloon (significantly not boatmen themselves) carried the child's coffin, presumably in a small procession, the police threatened their arrest. The telegram is brief, and of course I cannot vouch for the facts, but I should be grateful if you would make enquiries, and still more grateful if you can press for the housing of these people.
