We have your letter of the 9th October 1978 which is noted and upon which we have taken instructions.

We are instructed that both Mr. Thaika and

are greatly grieved by the decision referred to in your letter and we are therefore instructed to lodge a notice in writing, which we hereby do, pursuant to Section 53 of the Immigration Ordinance.

As indicated to you in our letter of the 10th July 1978, at a time the business of Kareem's was commenced by when he was President of the Victoria Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Director and organiser of numerous beneficial programmes of the Chamber.

Following his completion of the presidential year of office of the Chamber he undertook considerably greater effort in the establishment and expansion of the business of Kareem's and we enclose herewith the following summaries of, firstly, total purchases both from outside and inside Hong Kong by Kareem's between 1/1/77 and 31/12/77, and secondly, of both purchase within Hong Kong and imports into Hong Kong through purchase by Kareem's from 1/1/78 to 30/9/78.

The enormous expansion of business will be noted and matters have now achieved a state of affairs where the matter of expanding the business to the general benefit of local employment which will have to be engaged to operate it, and to the benefit of local tax revenues which will necessarily increase by virtue of the fact that the business is operated
