1.

I reported in paragraph 1 of my minute at folio (8) that SCORRI had not yet focussed on the Green Paper on Nationality Law. This is borne out by the report behind folio (10), which tells us little about the Committee's deliberations so far.

2. It does however offer the tantalising comment that its next full enquiry would be into the Chinese community in Britain. I have discovered from Mr Webb-Johnson that this interest has been stimulated by Mr Bray and is directly related to the Green Paper on British Nationality Law; the interest is not to be taken as a matter for concern but, it was suggested, of sympathy on the Committee's part. He will let me have further information after Mr Bray's return from Hong Kong tomorrow.

slightly puzzled to know how an enquiry into the Chinese Community in Bistan can be directly related to the Green Papyon British Nationality haw - but no doubt all will be revealed if the Committer is re-established, and decides to the had retain the programme of its

predecessor.
