The Permanent Delegation of Sweden present their compliments to the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and with reference to their note of August 1, 1979 has the honour to inform the Mission that the Swedish Government is aware of the increasingly difficult situation facing Hong Kong as the result of continuing refugee arrivals in the Crown colony. When it comes to the selection of refugees for resettlement in Sweden, the choice of country of first asylum from where to make the selection is made on the basis of recommenda- tions by the High Commissioner for Refugees. So far, the result has been that refugees have been taken to Sweden from camps in Malaysia and Indonesia.
The Permanent Delegation of Sweden avail themselves of this opportunity to renew to the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland the assurances of their highest consideration.
