Mr Williams
GENEVA:
INDO-CHINA REFUGEES
I attach a copy of Lord Carrington's minute to me of 24 July.
1.
2. I should like to add my personal thanks to all those who worked so hard to make this a successful Conference from Britain's point of view. The Mission in Geneva coped splendidly, with patience and good humour, with the visitors from London, and managed to report comprehensively and promptly on this important Conference. SEAD bore a very heavy burden throughout.
3. It is not often that our efforts produce commensurate results, but we can be cautiously optimistic that we have secured something of lasting benefit at Geneva.
I am most grateful to all concerned.
