1. I mentioned to you that at Mr Blaker's meeting with ir Leslie Kirkley, Chairman of the Standing Conference on Refugees, and representatives of British voluntary bodies, Sir Leslie said that they would very much like to see Sir Murray MacLehose. Mr Blaker said that Sir Murray's schedule was very tight but asked me to see if such a meeting could be arranged.

2. I got the impression that Sir Leslie's interest was to find out if he and his colleagues could help Hong Kong in any way, though one of them did express a fear that Hong Kong might follow the example of Malaysia and Singapore and Indonesia in battening down the hatches.

3. I would like to let Sir Leslie know Sir Murray's decision as soon as possible.
