South East Asia (in particular the Vietnamese invasion of

Cambodia, and the Chinese punitive action in Vietnam). Unlikely that the current talks between China and Vietnam

will lead to agreement, and further Chinese attack is possible.

eliminating resistance by forces loyal to Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia (which we continue to recognise) before the

monsoon period which will offer a respite for Pol Pot,

especially if the Chinese resupply (through Thailand).

Nations (ASEAN) Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,

Singapore and Thailand - are a major force for political

stability and economic growth in the region. A cooperation
