Mr Jack Ashley (Stoke on Trent South): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will propose a Commonwealth initiative to speed the resettlement of refugees fro Indo China with a view to supplementing the work of the United Nations High
Commission.

No. Some Commonwealth countries are already supporting
the efforts of the United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees in this respect. Others of our Commonwealth
friends have formidable refugee problems of their own
to contend with.
