I attended a meeting held by A Christopher Roberts in the DOT today was agreed

at which it was

a) that if at all possible, we should sign an agreement with the Chinese, rather than break off the negotiations; b) that we should try in preference for an agreement on the lines of Option At imporn 4 of Peking telno. 526 rather than Option B.

2. No Boyce of MAED (who come to the meeting direct from the airport, having just returned from Peking) said that the Hong Kong delegates in Peking preferred Option B, since,
