SIA Trans-Pacific Services

Amendments to the Rogers/Pillay package (FCO telno. 499 of 8 June 1978 to us) provided for, inter alia :

(a) Sympathetic consideration to be given to an

SIA request to advance the substitution by B747s of two of the 4 x DC-10 trans-Pacific services;

(b) SIA to have temporary rights Guam/Hong Kong

westbound only while there is no British operator on the route and while DC-10s remain on the trans- Pacific route;

(c) A third trans-Pacific freighter eastbound only

while there is no British operator on the route.

SIA have now filed their summer schedule effective 1 April. This includes extra services authorised as at (b) and (c) above, but leaves introduction of B747s at 1 September 1979.
