The City District Officer, Kwun Tong has sought the opinion of local residents on these proposals. Some criticism of the amenities at the ferry piers was noted but, in general, residents were satisfied with the service and seemed willing to accept a fare increase. The Company has indicated that it has already started to improve the amenities at the Rennie's Mill ferry pier which should be completed by May 1979 and other improvements will be made should a new licence be issued. The solvency of the operator was seen to be essential to ensure the continuation of these necessary services and ferry pier improvement.
