CLEARANCE OF BUILDINGS

1. The Minister of State has agreed to see Mr Robert Parry MP

and a number of other Labour MPs who have signed an Early Day

Motion asking the Government to intervene to postpone the eviction

of families from buildings at Sai Lau Kok in Tsuen Wan which are

due to be demolished to make way for a Mass Transit Railway

station.

2. I submit a Bakcground Note together with a suggested

Speaking Note.

3. Mr Blaker agreed that it might be helpful if I were to

attend the meeting. Mr Williamson of this department will also

be available to take a note.
