sending railway specialists, scholars, technicians and skilled workers and other personnel for advanced study, to carry out professional investigations and to take part in symposia, seminars and studies;

:

making common researches and exchanging research results and experiences on items of common interest;

in accordance with the needs of the modernisation of the railways, providing consultancy and other necessary services, including the research into and development of new technology and the provision of equipment, for the specific subjects for co-operation negotiated by both sides;

(v) other forms of scientific and technical cooperation

agreed by both Participants.

Paragraph 3

Both Participants will, within their competence, provide facilities for scientific and technical cooperation and friendly visits between the railways of the two countries.

Paragraph 4

Cooperation conducted in accordance with the present Arrangement will be subject to the laws and regulations in force in each

country.

Paragraph 5

In accordance with the fields of cooperation specified in paragraph 2 of this Arrangement, the representatives of both

Participants will meet not less frequently than every other year to negotiate the cooperation subjects and to supervise generally the implementation of this Arrangement, the venue being in the

People's Republic of China and the UK by rotation. Both

specific subjects for cooperation and the programme of implementation as and when necessary.
