NEW TERRITORIES LEASES

In Hong Kong telegram No 518 of 3 May we promised to send draft texts of the legislation which would be necessary here to cover the alteration of existing land leases in the New Territories to ones which are of indeterminate length. We also said we would send a draft of the form which a new lease would take.

I am now enclosing copies of these two documents, as prepared by the Attorney General. I hope they are self explanatory.

Could you please let me know as soon as possible whether the FCO legal advisers have any comments.
