Housing Allowances to Civil Servants (24th September)
This was really an inappropriate subject for Urban Councillors to raise, but for the record the whole question of housing allowances is presently under review.
Capital Punishment (24th September)
Nothing to add to Mr. Blaker's answer at paragraph 21 of the notes.
Restrictions on Textile Experts (24th September)
Nothing to add to Mr. Blaker's answer at paragraphs 22 and 23 of the notes.
Rents and Land (both meetings)
Public Housing and the Housing Authority (30th October)
Point 3 in the attachment to our CR 1/3566/79 of 18th October, 1979 to McLaren. Also Mr. Blaker's answer
at para. 17 of the notes.
Visiting MPs to allow more time with Urban Council (24th September)
Final part of point 21 in the attachment to our CR 1/3566/79 of 18th October, 1979. The general point is taken but in the end the allocation of time within an MP's programme must depend on the total time available and that MP's particular wishes and interests.
Ombudsman (24th September)
This has previously been considered and rejected in favour of other means of achieving the same end (see reference under Access to Civil Servants).
