SEMINAR NOTES
1. Driving to the IDS
J
M23/A23 to Brighton. Approximately two miles past the borough boundary (stone pillars & large sign), turn left at mini-roundabout signpost Lewes. Follow this road (a ring road) until it joins the main A27 Brighton/Lewes road. Turn left towards Lewes. There are traffic lights at the entrance to Sussex University (turn left). There are major road works on the A27 immediately past this entrance.
Drive straight towards Boiler House (watch out for road ramps) and into Refectory car park. There is parking space behind the IDS, but this will probably be full.
2.
Seminar seating arrangements
Participants generally will be seated in a semi-circle in alphabetical order name plaques provided by IDS - facing the chairman's table. It is probably better to avoid massing officials together thus creating a Gentlemen v Players atmosphere.
Mr Stratton would be flanked, for the opening session, by the Minister and Dr Jolly, plus the Vice Chancellor if present. For other sessions he would be flanked by the Minister and the appropriate Session Leader. If close support from (eg) Mr Duff is required, this can easily be arranged.
3. Messages
Urgent messages can be telephoned through Mr Darrell Jackson or his secretary on 0273 606261 Extension 241; or through the porter outside office hours.
4.
Miscellaneous
Name badges and a folder of information about the IDS will be available on arrival. A gavel has been requested.
The IDS would like a photograph of participants for inclusion in their annual report. This will probably be taken on Monday evening.
Peter McLean, Head of BARDD will be visiting IDS on Tuesday and will probably sit in on the Aid Session.
