Dear Mr Quantell,
M, Clarke
23rd July 1979
SEMINAR ON THE FUTURE OF BRITISH DEPENDENT TERRITORIES
Thank you for your letter of 2 July
inviting me to take part in your seminar at I.D.S. in late September. Unfortunately I now have an appointment which takes me to Washington D.C. at that time and therefore reluctantly have to decline your invitation. I am sorry to have to miss your seminar as I am sure it will be a useful occasion.
By coincidence whilst I was dictating this letter I received a telephone call from Tony Clarke who tells me that your list of people who have accepted is already quite long, and therefore he did not think you were now looking to me for names of other suitable non-academic participants. I hope yours will be a successful seminar and I am sorry not to be able to participate.
Yours sincerely,
feler
