COLONIAL REGULATIONS
1. I am sorry it has taken us so long to get round to amending the salary level in CR57(ii) - your letter 5443 of 16 January to Bill Quantrill refers. I find that the figure of £1000 has been unchanged since the 1971 edition was issued, so an adjustment is long overdue.
2.
However your proposals present two problems. Firstly, I would prefer an amendment that we can apply to all terri- tories to designate a specific Gibraltar grade could lead to a demand for individual amendments from other OAG's and I would much rather turn my mind to simplifying CRs than complicating them! Secondly, we feel that professional officers such as Crown Counsel, Medical Officers and Engineers ought to be handled under the CK59 procedures.
3. I would therefore propose that we simply increase the salary figure given in CR57(ii) to £5000. If this is acceptable to fou, I am advised that there is no reason why it should not be implemented pending the issue of a formal amendment.
