2. The above comprise the three substantive vacancies. addition, the Board will be asked to approve the following exten- sions to the terms of service of existing incumbents:-
(i) Governor, Cayman Islands: Mr Russell has been in office
since August 1974, and his term has already been extended twice and is now due to end in November 1979. He is such a highly effective Governor that, although he will be 60 in May 1980, the Board will be asked to recommend that his term should be extended until May 1981. Mr Russell agrees
to this and, as he is an HCCS officer, there is no prob- lem about his remaining in office after age 60.
(ii) Governor, St Helena: Mr Guy's three year term of office ends in December 1979. He is an ex-member of HMOCS serving on contract terms and is aged 57. He is happy to continue further and WIAD are confident that he is per- forming his duties well. The Board will be asked to recommend a year's extension.
(iii) Governor, Bermuda: Sir P Ramsbotham was appointed in September 1977 and at first requested only a two year term of office. He has subsequently decided that he would like to continue for the normal three year term which would bring him to September 1980 - just short of his 61st birthday. Although Sir P Ramsbotham was a DS officer, he is serving his Governorship in Bermuda on local terms. WIAD and POD support his wish to remain in office. The Board should take note of this but need not give a formal recommendation.
The following are attached:-
(i) Job descriptions for Belize, Falkland Islands and
Montserrat;
(ii) List of possible HMOCS candidates;
(iii) C.v.s of these candidates.
