1. I should be grateful if you would arrange for the preparation of up-to-date job descriptions of the posts of Governor of Montserrat, Caymans and St Helena. These will form part of the briefs which will be distributed to members of the Dependent Territories Senior Appointments Board for its forthcoming meeting. Items on the Board's agenda will include the selection of a successor to Mr Jones and the extension of Mr kussell's and Mr Guy's terms of office.

2. I attach copies of the job descriptions prepared for use in previous boards. For the sake of uniformity with other job descriptions, it would be helpful if the following headings could be used:

1. The Territory

(a) Background (Constitutional and Political Position

of the Territory)

(b) Resources Controlled by the Territory

(c) Security (Internal and External Froblems)

2.

The Governor

(a) Liscretion for Executive Lecision

(b) Involvement in the Judicial Process

(c) Special Qualities Required

3. It would be very helpful if I could have the new job des- criptions not later than 2 April.
