Dependent Territory Governorships
Three colonial governorships will need to be filled within the next six months or so, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary has been considering what future arrangements would be most suitable. He has reached the following conclusions:
Belize
Katanag
Mr JP I Hennessy CMG OBE should be appointed to succeed Mr P D McEntee as Governor and Commander-in-Chief at the end of this year or early in 1980 (the date to be determined in the light of the timing of the forthcoming general election in Belize).
Falkland Islands
Mr R M Hunt should be appointed to succeed
Mr J R W Parker as Governor and Commander-in-Chief in December 1979.
Montserrat
Mr D K H Dale CBE should be appointed to
succeed Mr G W Jones as Governor in January 1980..

I enclose biographical notes on these three candidates.
Lord Carrington would like to know whether the Prime Minister agrees that these names should be submitted to The Queen for approval.
