Thank you for your letter of 9 August advising me of the demise of the Dependent Territories Senior Appointments Board and of the procedure to be followed in future for filling senior posts in the dependencies. Procedures must change with circumstances and I am sure that the reasons for the new system will generally be accepted and understood in the small number of dependent territories which remain.

Unfortunately your remarks about the pool of HMOCS officers drying up are apposite to the extent that there are no such officers serving here who would have come within the purview of the DTSAB or who are likely to be affected by the new arrangements.
