TRADE SKILLS

Prepares and mixes paint appropriate to the surface to be painted and prepares surface for painting; applies paint by spraying or brushing.

Ability to :-

1. Correctly use and maintain the tools, machinery and equipment of the trade.

2. Carry out treatment of surface to be

painted using appropriate materials and processes.

3. Identify types and properties of paints

and solvents.

4.

Assess the deterioration of protective coating and ascertain the coating requirements.

5. Select and prepare coating material or

mix coating material to required properties.

6. Prepare paints for use including colour

matching.

7. Apply paint by brushing, dipping, rolling

or spraying according to work sample or instruction.

8. Carry out sign writing by transfer,

copying or freehand.

9. Observe safety precaution and health

measures.
