DESCRIPTION
Controls groups of craftsmen or other workers by virtue of his skill, training and experience; maintains production at predetermined quality, rate and cost, discipline and safety, liaison between management and workers.

TRADE SKILLS
In addition to all the skills listed in the job standard and specification for a charge- hand, a foreman/supervisor must also have the ability to :-
1. Interpret and implement management
policy including liaising with other departments and management,
2. Organize and implement production,
quality control procedures, maintenance programmes, installation and test procedures.
3. Allocate manpower and materials to jobs.
4. Maintain progress records.
5. Optimise layout of plant under his control.
6. Estimate and control production cost by
keeping and using cost records.
7.
Estimate manpower requirements for his section.
8. Train and develop subordinates, and determine the training needs of his section.
9. Appraise performance of workers under
his control.
10.
Ensure all necessary safety precautions are carried out.
