Overtime allowance

Arrears of overtime allowance arising from the pay increases will be calculated automatically and the amount due to each officer will be included in his July salary.
Expatriation pay

Expatriation pay will be revised with effect from 1st April 1978. For details, see Appendix 8. A revised Annex VIII to Civil Service Regulations will issue shortly.
Other allowances

Revised rates for those allowances covered under the Review of Allowances (Civil Service Branch Circular No.10/78 dated 24th April 1978 refers) will be the subject of a separate Civil Service Branch Circular. Apart from allowances which are expressed as a percentage of salary and those which are specifically mentioned in this circular, no other allowances are affected.
Quarters and rent

Rent deductions will be adjusted with effect from 1st April 1978.
Insofar as quartering matters are concerned, all references to actual salaries in Chapter V of Civil Service Regulations should be updated from the date of this circular to reflect the new pay scales, except that officers on the Disciplined (Rank and File) Scales on a revised salary of $2,050 p.m. remain in Quarters Category I.
Widows and Orphans Pension Scheme

Officers who have not elected, or who are not eligible, to transfer to the new Widows' and Children's Pensions Scheme, may, as a result of the present revision of salaries, have passed the $125 flat rate at which they may wish to opt to contribute to the Widows and Orphans Pension Scheme. Officers in this situation will be given an opportunity to opt retrospectively. The arrangements will be the subject of a separate Treasury Circular.
Timing of payment

The new salaries and arrears will be written into the July 1978 pay sheets.
