The Chairman welcomed the Staff Side and introduced the Official Side. He said that the meeting had been called at the request of the Shorthand/Audio. Typist Unit of the Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants' Association in order to clarify the restructuring of the Secretarial Class which had been approved by the Finance Committee on 8th December 1976, and which had included proposals agreed by both the first Shorthand/Audio Typist Committee and the Assistant President of the HKCCSA and the Secretary 'for the Civil Service at their two meetings in August and October 1976. Arising from these two meetings,

(a)

..the maximum salary of Stenographer had been increased by two

points, i.e. from point 13 to point 15; and

-

(b) Shorthand/Audio Typists who were in post on or before 31st March

1976 and who were qualified for Clerical Officer II under the criteria then existing would be considered for transfer to the rank of Clerical Officer II if they so wished, subject to suitability and vacancies.

Having clarified the above points, the Chairman said that he was prepared to answer any questions which the Unit wished to raise at this meeting.

2.

Mrs, Cheung proposed that minutes of meetings should be checked in draft by both Sides before confirmation and signing at the following meeting. The Chairman said this was normal practice and any amendments the Committee wished to propose for the draft minutes of earlier Meetings could be made if appropriate.
