8 On 17 May 1978, a routine ship search of the mv. Tai On arriving from Sarawak revealed 1 kilos of prepared opium. Customs officers discovered the drugs concealed seperately inside three boxes of detergent powder. Two seamen CHOI Fung (5591/1496) and TAM Yick-cheong (6223/1150/ 2490), both from Hong Kong, were arrested. They have jointly been charged with 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking', and the trial is pending. (CE/110/52/78)
