UMELCO Police Group

A UMELCO Police Group has been set up under the chairmanship of Sir Sidney Gordon, CBE, JP with five other UMELCO members, a Law Officer and a representative of the Commissioner of Police. The terms of reference of the group are as follows :

to monitor and where it considers appropriate

to review the handling by the Police of complaints by the public;

to keep under review statistics of the type of conduct by Police officers which lead to complaints by members of the public;

to identify any faults in Police procedures which lead or might lead to complaints; and

when it considers appropriate, to make recom- mendations to the Commissioner of Police or, when considered necessary, to the Governor.

Written complaints against the Police should be addressed to the Commissioner of Police (Attention: Senior Staff Officer, Complaints Against the Police Office), Police Headquarters, Arsenal Street, Hong Kong or to the Administrative Secretary, UMELCO. Complaints may also be made in person at any police station, by phone to the Complaints Against the Police Office (5-277226) or at the UMELCO Office.
