It should be noted that many crimes are reported by police informers. As they know the people in their locality, it is easy for them to pin a crime on some helpless person. They share the reward with the police if the charge upheld in court. These rewards vary from $70 to $500.

No record of frame-ups would be complete without mention that this is not something new, nor does it happen only at the hands of police. The whole system of malpractices and corruption has been supported by resorting to framing those who dared to resist it. Among notable frame-ups are:
