1. Lord Goronwy-Roberts wrote to Mr Blenkinsop (Labour, South Shields) on 7 December about

who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Hong Kong for murder. The Secretary of State authorised

removal to the United Kingdom under the Colonial Prisoners' Removal Act 1884. Mr Blenkinsop asked Lord Goronwy-Roberts

to keep him informed of developments.

The agreement of the Executive Council in Hong Kong to the removal was obtained on 4 April and the Governor of Hong Kong signed a Notification of Concurrence on

17 April.

He has been taken to HM Prison Oxford pending more permanent arrangements which the Home Office are making. I understand from the Ministry of Defence that Gunner Puttock is being discharged from the Army.
