allowance for cultivators, compensation for graves, bone-pots and pine trees and also the payment of Tun Fu ceremonial fees to villagers will be necessary.

No building land is involved in this resumption and no structures, permanent or otherwise, will be cleared as a result of this resumption. As filling material is urgently required for the construction of the Shuen Wan Controlled Tip extension, 2 months' notice of resumption is recommended.

The institution of formal resumption proceedings is recommended as negotiations with the landowners for the voluntary surrender of their properties cannot be completed because of absentee landowners.

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the lots listed at Annex B is required for a public purpose, namely the construction of an access road to Borrow Area 'Z' in connection with the Shuen Wan Controlled Tip Extension,

(The District Officer, Tai Po (Mr P.E. JOHNSON) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
