housing nor temporary housing area space is available in the district, these families may opt for a resite in which case an ex-gratia rehabilita- tion allowance of $5,000 per family may be payable but they will forfeit their priority for public housing. If a family is found to be a genuine cultivator family and is able to find suitable land to continue farming elsewhere, it may also be eligible for this ex-gratia rehabilitation allowance.

Ex-gratia compensation will be paid at approved rates for all structures found to be eligible.

The institution of formal resumption proceedings is recommended since engineering works are scheduled to commence in March 1978. For this reason also, it is proposed to give only one month's notice of re- sumption. As the land to be resumed lies within the boundaries of the Sheung Shui/Shek Wu Hui/Fanling Outline Zoning Plan, landowners affected will be offered the alternative of land exchange entitlements on Letter B terms at a credit of $10 per square foot or cash compensation which will include an ex-gratia payment to bring the total up to $17 per square foot if the cash offer is accepted prior to the date of reversion. The amount of cash compensation to be paid out will be reduced to the extent that land exchange entitlements are taken up.
