Rent levels are presently set at 28-34 cents per square foot for former resettlement estates, and 40-48 cents for former Govern- ment Low Cost Housing estates. (By way of comparison, the range of rents for Group A estates is 61-95 cents per square foot). At this level the income from rents from resettlement and Low Cost Housing estates taken together fails even to cover recurrent expenditure, with the result that rents from post-1973 estates are in effect bearing part of these expenses for the earlier estates.
