However, on Sunday afternoon, the Acting Director of Education ordered the closure of the school. ▲ 'new' school will be set up in the same building in the coming September with the same super -visor ari the same principal, and the teachers who took part in the sit-in will have their contract terminated, or they may even be deregistered as teachers so that they cannot teach in Hong Kong anymore in the future. Two days later, the Executive Council supported this decision.
But the whole affair stinks. Why the sudden decision? Community leaders, groups and organizations have condemned such high-handed authoritarian attitude and action. Protests, sit-ins, statements were reported daily by the mass media. A mass rally will be held the coming Sunday, 28th May, 1978.
We feel gross injustice has been done and hope you will take concern so as to bring about a fair solution. The school has been highly regarded by educational and training bodies such as the School of Education of Chinese University of Hong Kong for its Open approach. It would be a grest loss to the future of education in Fong Kong shold such a schoo' and such experimentation be suppressed.
