On October 13, 1977, Form 2D held a class meeting during the recess to discuss a basketball match with Form 2C. A Vice-principal rushed in to dissage the class
meeting on the ground that they had not obtained permission from the School in
advance for such a meeting. The young girls were then locked out of their classroom.
1he event led to great emotional upstir among the students as other classes learnt
of it.
On October 14, 1977, after returning from their physical education lesson at
the playground, some Form 4A students found that their bags had been searched,
which led to an argument with a teacher. In asking some teachers to leave the
Miss Kwan said to the teachers that if the need arose, she would ask them
to help "suppress" the students. A little later, she summoned the police. The
school bookkeeper was dismissed.

accusing some teachers of being members of a local Trotskyist organisation, and
said that the information came from a Current Affairs Committee of one of the

post-secondary institution Student Union.
The Current Affairs Commitees of the Student Unions of Hong Kong University and
Chinese University of Hong Kong issued statements denouncing the source.
The event led to vigorous reactions from the post-secondary students eversince.
