Exemption

5.

(a)

(b)

The X-ray Survey Centre staff will make every effort to arrange appoint-- ments on school holidays other than public holidays so that school work is not interrupted. Where it is necessary for a school to be given an appointment during normal school working hours, the Survey Centre staff will inform the Director of the date and time of the appointment so that it will not be necessary for the school to notify the Director of the temporary closure of the school while the survey

is being carried out.

It is of the utmost importance for schools to attend the X-ray survey

on the day and at the time appointed. Failure to attend not only means additional unnecessary work for Survey Centre staff at a later date, but also inconvenience for other schools if their appointments have to

be re-arranged. If a teacher falls sick, or for some other reason is unable to attend the survey, he should be given an .D. Form 223 to make his own arrangements for X-ray, and instructed to forward the result of the X-ray to the Director through his supervisor/principal.

Supply teachers are exempt from pre-employment X-ray examination and annual X-ray survey. However, they may be required to undergo a chest X-ray in connection with registration as a teacher or the issue of a permit with regard to their employment as teachers.

Teachers on approved maternity leave are exempt from annual X-ray survey

for the period of such leave.

The Director may exempt from pre-employment X-ray examination or annual

X-ray survey as the case may be:

(a)

Toachers who car show that they have undergone a satisfactory chest X-ray at a Government medical institution, H.M. Forces medical institut- ion or, in the case of teachers appointed from overseas, another approved medical institution, not more than six months before their dates of appointment or the dates appointed for their schools' annual X-ray

surveys;
